"Ashtanayika's - कल और आज... (Poetry in Three Versatile Forms)" emerges as an avant-garde exploration, intertwining the ancient poetic essence of Ashtanayika with the contemporary music, rhythm, dance, and rap. This production delves deep into the emotional spectrum of eight archetypal heroines, vividly brought to life through the lyrical sagas of Sur Das's poetry, the expressive dynamism of Kuchupudi, and the raw, powerful narratives encapsulated in rap.
The music, a fusion of classical Indian rhythms and modern jazz harmonies, becomes the heartbeat of the production, with Viveick Rajagopalans music production and percussion mastery weaving a rhythmic tapestry that bridges the classical and the contemporary. Each beat and note is carefully orchestrated to resonate with the Nayika’s myriad expressions, echoing through time.

Indian carnatic music is unique in the world of music by virtue of its approach to melodies, ragas and rhyhms and a very distinct style of improvisation. The use of violin, viola and mridangam adds the right amount of "chutney" ,"podi" and "sambhar" to make the plate just right and fulfilling, representing music from the “South of India".
